Gogol was a Bong?

Anyone remembers Akakii Akakievich, the habitually solitary hero of Nikolai Gogol’s The Overcoat ?

While reading it just now after a gap of few years it struck me.

‘akakii’ in Bengali means ‘one who is alone’.

Coincidence?
